Rachel Garner Counselling
My name is Rachel Garner, I am a trained integrative counsellor based in Budleigh Salterton, East Devon. I am passionate about the benefits of counselling and talking therapies. How often do we have the opportunity to talk about our lives, how we feel, our emotions and the changes we want to make in a warm, friendly, informal and non-judgmental environment? I know I haven’t very often which is why, I am passionate about counselling; it works, it helps and it can create life long changes to your life through the therapeutic relationship. If you had a headache, you would reach for a remedy. If you suffer with depression or anxiety… do you ask for help?

How could counselling help you?
Deciding to step towards counselling can be a scary, daunting process. If you are reading this, it means you have taken the first massive step forward, sometimes life can be overwhelming, sometimes the jigsaw pieces of our life fit together smoothly, then every now and again the puzzle pieces jar and don’t seem to fit together at all. My role as a counsellor is to support you in looking at the jigsaw and together we can work to help you find your perfect jigsaw puzzle. My aim during our time together is to give you the skills to move forward in your life. A “tool box” for life, strategies which you can rely upon. |
We are all individuals and therefore behave and relate to life in many different ways. In our counselling time I offer an encouraging, warm, supportive and genuine environment which reflects your needs. I strongly believe that one size doesn’t fit all, so through our relationship we would find a way to work which suites you. Sometimes talking is too hard, so drawing or painting might help. The main message for you to take away from visiting my website is that I am committed to working with you to support your journey to a happier more fulfilled you. |

I would wholeheartedly recommend Rachel if you're considering counselling. She helped me with a number of longstanding issues over a period of several months. We went at a pace I was comfortable with and used a number of creative techniques which I found really helped me make sense of things I thought I'd never get to grips with.

Rachel also brought warmth, humour and compassion to our sessions which I really valued, especially when there were tough topics to deal with. She always made sure I was OK at the end of a session, and that I left with something really positive to focus on.

I'm still benefitting several months on - in every session Rachel gave me new tools to help me cope with situations I found challenging, or to reframe unhelpful thinking. I'm still using them, and I feel better and emotionally stronger now than I have for many years. I can't begin to describe how grateful I am to Rachel for helping me achieve this!
